On talk of the nation program on NPR, a widely heard radio channel, they are going to discuss a new report where there is a false claim that there are 3 times as many job seekers in high-tech industry as jobs, and that country is over flooded with scientists and engineers.

Those caught in the backlog are forced to spend up to seven years waiting, unable to become true stakeholders in our country, putting their lives on hold in the hopes that a green card will eventually become available to them. Every day that passes without access to these highskilled workers is a lost opportunity for growth, productivity, and innovation. But this need not be the case.

1) I switched to another company on EAD.
2) I worked for GC sponsoring company for over 2.5 years after filing I-485.
3) My current job title and responsibilities are almost same as earlier one.
Today I got a text message from USCIS with an RFE. I am still waiting for the letter in the mail.
Now:
1) What are all the documentation I need from my new (Current) employer apart from Employment Verification letter (EVL)?
2) Can i continue to work for the current employer while my case is in suspended state?
3) Can someone please provide me the EVL format?

My PD is Jan04 for EB3 India and its severely retrogressed. I wasn't available for EB2 filing at that time.
Now my current employer can not file my GC in EB2 and use the same Priority date as all the experience is in the current company.
Now if I change employers and new employer files my GC in EB2, can my same priority date be used for the new GC? My I140 is approved and I485 was filed in July 07.
Can there be any problems if I go this route, can my current employer revoke my I140 before my I140 is filed for new EB2 GC? Or is it a safe bet to go this route and get GC faster because if my same PD is kept in EB2 it will be current as soon as I140 is filed.
Please let me know your opinion.

Folks,
I have been a member of IV for sometime. Over the year i have seen increasingly disheartening posts from people from being abused by their employer to being let go at a critical moment of their GC process where they are left with very little options. The reasons for people seeking jobs within the IV community are many but most of them seem to center around difficulties in H1-B sposorship, GCs, longevity of process, hardships etc. I know that if i was ever in this situation that it would be great if i could use the community's help to get back on my feet if i needed it.
I thought about an idea to create a free Jobs and referral portal to help people in their hour of need. Here are my thoughts & assumptions going in:
1. members of the IV community probably fall under these categories:
a) empowered to hire directly (manager or executive)
b) in a an influencing capacity (reccommend or work with hiring mgr)
c) refer but cannot influence - are aware of job opportunities within their environment that may be difficult to locate in a portal like Dice.
2. members of IV generally work for H1-B and GC friendly companies.
3. Members of IV will be able to give better insight and job prospect opportunities from their enviroment than any job site as they witness the requirement, opportunity, political env, etc first hand to be able to reccommend.
Essentially i want to create a portal where we can match IV job seekers with Job opportunities based on our our hierarchy of influence. we can also think about prioritzing the need based on situation:
1. Lost job & need sponsorship asap
2. Need to be free from terrible employer
3. Just looking for better opportunities with GC friendly companies
4. etc
I am a non-technical person (IT) so I am not even sure on what kind of portal this would be. if possible I would apply for both EAD and H1 renewal. Its good to have a fallback if something happens to H1. I know what you are referring to, that you need to apply for EAD renewal sooner, But yes, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Check your LC approval and it should there in the Occupation: Computer Programmer, <code>. Or if you have filed LC application than it should the value you put in Job Name field.

employers to hire citizens or legal immigrants. First we have to ensure
that our laws allow for sufficient legal workers. The legal immigration
system is relatively generous for family members of citizens, but it is
nearly impossible to immigrate for employment. In 2004, only 359 people
were admitted in the category of "unskilled shortage workers," which is why
so many illegal immigrants come to fill those jobs.
I support legislation similar to the Senate compromise to bring legal
immigration in line with the supply of jobs not taken by citizens. H.R.
2330, the Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act, would create a system
whereby, if a job went unfilled by American citizens, the person who filled
that job would be able to get a temporary visa and, if they kept the job for

Go to Local office of USCIS and get the temp. EAD. Eventhough the law has changed now, they can still issue on a emergency case. Otherwise you have to take a break on your employment till you get a green card. Talk to USCIS and ask for expedited processing based on extreme hardship. It also works.

Yes, that is normal. By default, all controls are displayed in the style of their OS theme such as Vista's Aero or XP's Luna and Royale. You can create custom controls that override this behavior, and while you can do that directly writing XAML, it is much easier using a visual editor like Expression Blend.
The namespaces you mention are used to primarily to integrate WinForms controls into a WPF application. Either way, you will still see OS-specific versions of the controls unless you create your own or modify an existing control.

This is indeed a sad story and at the same time an excellent example of the absurdity of US Immigration rules. To not be sympathetic to legal, US educated, tax paying immigrants and then simply allow illegals to usurp social services and now, apparently, pay a fine and be all good is ridiculous.
Just fix up your grammar and perhaps leave out being partial to the Democrats (because realize who you are dealing with).

This is how it works. If your 485 case gets stuck in name check and later cases are being processed, then you can approach your local senator, congressman, etc to call uscis and get your name check expedited. That is all they can do.
Politicians cannot and will not have a case processed out of queue. And of course, 485 final approval requires the availability of a visa number which can take years. There is nothing Politicians can do about this either.
So it is only a rare instance of a name check pending for long time where politicians can be of some assistance.

I: Wanted to know my status as my PD ( Oct'01 - EB3 - India) is current and RD is also current ( Though I know its going to be current by May 1st)
IO ( Nice Lady): Its pending, thats what I can tell you right now,
I: My RD and PD both are current, is there any thing else you can tell me.
IO: All the cases for 2001 & 2002 are pending for adjudication, and your is one among them. Officers will be making decision on these cases with in 30-90 days. Your case is not yet assigned to any officer. If you want, I can send an email to Officer to look into your file.

If you want to renew your AP on your own, this link will give you the correct mailing address information.
I am a July ’07 filer. I am from Michigan and I have sent my AP application to TSC earlier. But this time I noticed from this document that (after July 30 2007) for Michigan it supposed to be sent to NSC. Just wanted to share these details with other members.

My spouse is on a long vacation in India. Will be back in US in August. What are my options?
- Can I ask her to do her medical in India and send her papers to me?
- Will I need to ask her to prepone her ticket and come back soon?
