The above link has some FAQs which suggest that the center that originally held the application will have jurisdiction over that application even after the bi-specialization procedures are set into motion.
So obviously what they are doing is contradictory.

You do not need a EAD or H1B, as your I 485 is approved.You do not need the physical card in your hand to continue in present job.Good Luck.

So what this indirectly means is that having a 140 approval + 485 filing (180 days +) and EAD/AP in hand = a virtual greencard (with paperwork inconveniences)? Unless the 485 gets denied for some reason (which is unlikely, unless there is fraud or some extenuating reason), this status is a virtual greencard...
What this also means is that there is no requirement to be 'continuously employed' - which is something that is required when a person in on H1. Gaps in employment do not pose any issues now...?

2.Your I-485 can be denied for any reason.
so it's must that if you leave current job, do maintain good relationship with GC sponsor employer, you still need their support to have a smooth sail.

Whatever agreement you have with them may be an unreasonable contract.
Any unreasonable contract is automatically invalid. Sometimes they make us sign such contracts in hope that we don't know our rights. Make sure you know your rights!

If we send one combined check, how would consulate people would know to what address they should mail the passports?? do they mail the passports to the address written under "other address" section in the application?? I would have not worried much if they have clearly labelled as "mailing address" or some thing similar instead of "other address"...
also, advantage of sending self addressed envelope is that you will have the tracking number, but if you send additional check, there is no way you would know the tracking number...
I am still un decided whether to send self addressed expresss mail envelope or combined check (mailing fee included).... damn consulate.. .why make soo complicated...

I renewed my passport at CGNY last month. Here's what needs to be done:
You fill out a portion of the form online. When done, it will generated a PDF with your application number on it. You have to then print it and complete the remaining pages by pen. You also need to complete a "Nationality Status Verification Form". Its on their website.
I mailed the forms along with the supporting documents and photos to the consulate address in NY via USPS (I chose the most secure option available). Here is a list of supporting docs:
1. I-797 copy (notarized), this could be I-485 in your case
2. Electric bill showing proof of residence
3. Driving license copy (notarized)
4. One combined money order for the application fee + express mail cost

Your source of confusion about the self addressed envelope is probably the PDF instructions on their website. I think they are outdated. Just go by the web page instructions @ RENEWAL OF PASSPORT OR NEW PASSPORT - www.indiacgny.org (http://www.indiacgny.org/php/showContent.php?linkid=225)
Also, I remember seeing a section in the application form about minor children. Good luck!

They called me this am and said, we are supposed to provide you employment as per our gc filing process once you get gc and since we couldnt right now , we need to inform USCIS the same. I dont what the hell that means and why they need to inform
If they sponsored a green card for you without having a job for you. I beleive it is they who committed fraud. You should get a good immigration lawyer and have him.her send a letter outlining their responsibilities as a Green card sponsoring employer. If they did not have a job for you, they should have terminated your green card sponsorship. If I were you I would look into this approach, it just might make them rethink their position and find you employment.

Most likely reason - CIS made a stupid mistake. Of course when this happens it's always the applicant who suffers. Possible reasons:
Missed fingerprint. (They failed to send notice properly)
Improper fees (they couldn't count)
Lack of RFE response (they didn't send it properly)

I am 100% sure of the information provided below;
Fee to be paid to the USCIS has to be paid by the employer.
Legal fee (attorney's) can be paid completely by the employee. When I was at an university initially their system did not allow payment to attorneys and they did not have an immigration attorney so I had to hire one for myself and paid from my pocket. This was for an H1b (original).
If you think about it 80% of the cost is ATTORNEY'S FEE.

So that only corporates could use the H1Bs and no one else. to give control of H1s to a selected few only. corporates doesn't need to worry about it and I dont think body shopping type companies are even corporates...
Infy, TCS, Wipro etc will be considered corporate by any standard.
secondly, small shops can get H1. I know off quite a few small biz doing software development with H1 workforce.... I worked in one for 5 years!

I just realized that my attorney mailed my app on June 27th and it arrived at the nsc on June 28th however I was not current under the June bulletin. I havent received anything via receipt or rejection but I am now sure that my app will be rejected. I think the best thing to do is refile? Any thoughts?

I applied for PERM in June 07, received audit in Oct 07, replied for audit in Oct 07 and received denial in april 08. Filed for reconsideration in May 08. Is it kissing boss booty? Maybe a bit, but your manager is likely under a lot of stress, too, so finding ways to help them and make them look better means you're less likely to be sent packing.
2. Learn Other People's Jobs
It sounds calculating, but it's true. If you can do the work of two, you have a better chance of out-staying your peers. Your resourcefulness and willingness to work hard are attributes most managers want to keep in-house.

I tried get more information from my employer HR since she is the one talking to Lawyer now. I also tried give her some input I got from other forum to use 2 package and magic word "DO NOT OPEN IN MAIL ROOM".

Better is ; we all have a voice recorder anyway or even laptop can record the external audio, call them during earlier automated comments , start the recorder then you tell "Be advice that you are being recorded" then record the whole conversation! then use that as the evidence!

Wow...This was a great read. I was told by someone more than 90 years old scholar in my village that Indian history was distorted and Taj Mahal was not built by Shah Jehan, I could not believe him. Anyways, not something that need to be dicussed here but a great read.

As far as I know, I knew one relative who worked on two H1b. He worked the first job on a part time and the second one was full time. He was doing about 8 years back.
I think the rule should be still valid. You should always clarify with a attorney.
