I had my brother in India work thru a lawyer; the lawyer did the paper work and I got the BC after due procedure. There seems to be a proper format to do this currently and hence it should not be a problem. Obviously, doing this on your own will cost you in time and effort.

Okay so I understand that employer can revoke I140. If I wait till my I140 is approved, for now let me say it is approved in February 2008.
So in February 2008, I have approved PD, EAD, AP and I140 (from Company A). I485 will be pending more than 180 days.
Can I in March 2008 move to company B with H1B transfer? Can I move the Priority date and I140 from Company A to Company B?
I am hesitant to use EAD due to the added complications (1 yr validity, etc) and would like to keep my H1 status without loosing my PD..Not sure what the best way is..
Please advise.

I have changed job using AC21 in July 2009. I moved from Consulting to a full time position.
The lawyer sent the AC21 docs along with other docs like change of representation on my case. (I guess G28). There was a soft LUD on all my cases, (EAD, I-140, I-485)within couple of days of my lawyer filing the docs. Also one important thing, the lawyer(Fragomen) asked me to get the I-140 from my previous employer, and he was kinna emphasizing on getting this doc.
Nothing after those LUDs

No no no. You got it wrong. If DOS does not have numbers then new 485s are not needed.
It does not matter if USCIS has numbers are not. Because USCIS gets the numbers only when they have enough cases to adjudicate.

There is no finger printing for an EAD.
The finger printing is just for the 485.
As far as i know once you have an EAD you can use it right away, not having done your finger printing has no bearing on this.

I had my Code 3 biometrics in september 2007 ( i am a july 2nd filer) I had not applied for my ead at that time.. however, i did apply for it around the 180 day mark (after filing 485) and I got my Code 2 biometrics notice specifically for my EAD. I went and gave my index finger print, photograph and signature today for my EAD. I had done the entire set of 10 finger prints, photograph and signature, in september.

Got my GC during September and my sponsor couldnt find a job right now. He is saying, they are going to revoke I-140?. Is this normal?. Will it affect me in any way?. Thanks.

Thank You all, for sharing your expertise. Looks like postponing the trip would be ideal if I can, but I can't given the importance of my trip. I'll be going. To me below is the criteria, used for my own analysis.
1. I am on H1 visa and will be coming back on the same H1 visa.
2. I am physically present in US at the time of filing (physical delivery of I-485 application), will keep record of Fedex delivery.
3. Based on the volume of filing that is taking place, I don't think USCIS will be generating receipt for my application within a week, and I'll be back from Canada by 8/5. Which means by the time they try to generate the receipt I'll be in the country.
4. We need to provide latest I-94 info in I-485 application and I-94 will not change when we visit Canada for a week.

I know of another PERM case which has taken about this length of time, they are also waiting for an appeal to go through and it has been eight months so far since the appeal was filed.
It would appear the PERM process is becoming beset with its own set of problems and we all thought the old system was awful.

I e-filed for my wife's EAD renewal on april 21st at TSC. Till now no replies and we had the fingerprinting done on May 7th 2008. We requested for expedite and the current EAD is expiring today(Augst 15th 2008). I saw in the earlier reply, that I can go to local USCIS office and get a temp EAD. Can you please confirm whether it is possible and has anyone got that?

By July 21st you have completed 90 days of filing EAD.on 22nd or 23rd July you should have taken Infopass and gone to local USCIS to expedite the EAD processing.Again on 1st Aug or 2nd Aug you should have taken Infopass and gone to local USCIS to expedite the EAD processing , and should have written a letter to Senator.

My first I-140 was pending since October 2006 at NSC when we requested an upgrade to Premium Processing. This upgrade request was delievered on June 25 to NSC. Case was approved on July 2 (although in incorrect Eb category).

No - no reasons were given. When my lawyers talked to them, USCIS told my lawyers that they should re-file with my old receipt number.
I then talked to my lawyer and they say that they are going to argue that my receipt date was before they stopped taking premium processing apps. So, the lawyer says USCIS must accept an upgrade request.

Did not have any problem. Got I-94 per my new 797 (3 year). However, somehow the officer issued I-94 for one less day (i.e. one day less then the end date in my 797). When I asked he said his computer shows like that. I did not argue just for one day.

Beware.....not only does USCIS mess up on the status of cases but they mess up on mailing the receipt notices too.
The last time I renewed my H1-B, they made an error by mixing up my company's address and my lawyer's address. It took 3 months before I finally got the notice.

I think this is BS, I produced a letter that I got from India that I had MMR back in 2004. My doctor accepted it and said no need of MMR.
My doctor said that I need to take another MMR shot in the period of 60 days from now, thats the requirement for that vaccine. Has anyone heard the same?

Correct, I do not have the receipt # for the I-140. I was told by my lawyer when I asked that this # belonged to my employer, not to me. It was at this point that I decided it was probably not the most wise for me to keep prying information and inform them of my intent to change jobs. The last thing I need is to end up having my employer withdraw their application. I do think, however, that this I-140 affects me in a big way, so i'm annoyed at not knowing whether its been approved or not.
Hey tell them you want to go to your home country on vacation and you need scanned copies or print out of your I-140 receipt notice, I-140 approval notice and I-485 receipt notices, it is your info and without this you cannot come back on EAD/AP, tell them the guy sitting at port of entry will ask me this and hence i need this info.
Then get the info and tell you are not planning on any vac now, use those receipt notices on case status search online and find your status.
This is totally ridiculous why will they not give you your own receipt numbers. And who is this attorney who is dancing to the tunes of the employer, this is too much.
