why does macrumors link to the appshopper description of the app instead of the actual apple link?
Seems like a useless middle step
The practice was started when straight itunes linking was awkward, as iTunes had to be installed, and people browsing from work would get dead-ended into an "Install iTunes please". It's perhaps less useful these days since Apple now does offer a web preview without itunes installed, so it may be just as easy to link using normal links again.

Well, he currently eyeing selling the tech to companies, presumably some of which are willing to spend big bucks to jam their way into the iPod + iTunes ecosphere. At least now, it's clear it's mostly about making moola.
Yes, we all know the moral high-ground corporations take. Regardless of any moral principals involved, it is 'can we get away with it?', or even more disgusting, 'can we make enough profit to justify the legal settlement?'. It is truly a sorry state of affairs we find ourselves in; where the moral fiber of our country is solely based on the personal pursuit of wealth. Personally, I find this individual loathsome.

I still think it would help us if you described, at a high-level, what it is you are trying to accomplish.
From what I can gather you want a countdown timer: a label that shows the seconds remaining, along with two buttons, one to start the countdown and one to cancel it. After the Start button is tapped, the label will start showing the seconds counting down. If the Cancel button is tapped, the countdown stops and is reset, so that if you tap Start again it begins back at 60 seconds. Is that correct?
If so, I think you need to be aware that a countdown-timer and NSTimer are very different things.

I didn't test the code at all, so no. But it doesn't surprise me. An exception is thrown when you try to message an object that no longer exists.
I test to see if myTimer is nil as a check to see if the my timer object exists. But elsewhere in the progam I release myTimer and never set myTimer to nil. So, the pointer still points to a memory location, but no object is there so the [myTimer invalidate] fails with an exception. It's a very beginner mistake on my part.

A few things...
1 - The AK74u is the best gun in the game, in my opinion. With the Grip and Rapid Fire attachments, it feels like cheating. The Galil is a close second. Both guns are totally amazing.
2 - "Hardline Pro" is the best perk, hands down. Use that, and then set your Kill Streaks to "SAM Turret", "Care Package", and "Sentry Gun". Every time you get a package drop with Hardline Pro, you can double-tap X and swap it out. More often than not, you'll get something good.
3 - The second best is "Hacker Pro". It doesn't happen much, but booby-trapping an enemy care package is most excellent. The standard benefit of seeing enemy equipment is nice as well.
4 - The spawns in this game are downright shameful... and that is putting it lightly. If they aren't fixed with the first update, this game can go to hell. Soooo farking pitiful.
5 - Nuketown, combined with the aforementioned assy spawns, might be the worst thing I've ever experienced in a game. The map is a total mess, made even worse when the enemy spawns on top of you, or behind you, all the time. Not fun. I don't even mess with it now. If it shows up, I quit out. Not worth the hassle.

Disney is the 2nd largest media company in the world. I surely hope you don't think we're just getting Mickey Mouse and Daffy Duck movies. Here's just the movie companies that Disney owns:

But maybe it will work out like the TV downloads have, as some have suggested, starting with just a few and adding more. The problem is, Apple does not currently dominate that market; there are other players right now that are equally strong with their video download services. It seems that the market seems to favor having a dominant player, like Windows for OS and iTMS for music downloads. This could leave the door open for Microsoft to dominate this market if Apple doesn't ramp up its selection quickly.

I don't know why Google is bothering. The Amazon cloud system *should be*/is great and competition enough for iTunes - both in terms of pricing (certainly) and usability (more debatable).
The fact that Android doesn't need an iTunes-esque system to compete with Apple means that they should probably give it up now.
Note: For the fanboys out there, please don't get too excited by this. Amazon's cloud is going to present new and interesting challenges for Apple, I don't think Google's failure to negotiate with the jumped up music industry is necessarily a bad thing, all things considered!

Ok, here's the thing. The contract, presented to you when you signed up for the service *explicitly* disallows tethering unless you sign up for that extra service. You pay them money for the service you signed up for *as defined in the contract*. There's the consideration from both sides. If you want to *add* something to that, they're going to want *you* to provide more consideration in exchange for giving you more capabilities under the service agreement *contract*.
(Wow, there's a lot of arm-chair lawyers here who think the contract they signed doesn't apply to *them*.)
I don't give a damn. If I pay for a chunk of data, it isn't up to the provider to dictate how I use my data. If I want to syphon fuel out of my vehicle for use in another, that is my decision not Exxon's.

You have no idea what "free" means, do you? Free software has absolutely nothing to do with the money you pay to obtain it. Commercial software that you would pay thousands of dollars for can be a perfectly good example of "free" software.

Hey I just got a 24" myself.
EDIT: Also had to pick up a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter.
Why not get a mini displayport straight to DVI cable? I never understood the use of an adapter. Maybe someone can shed some light?
