Hey All,
I am on H1B on Indian passport and my current H1B that is stamped on passport will expire on March 18, 2010.
Recently, I got my H1b visa extension until 2012.
I'm currently working for my end client "X" from last 2 years and H1b holder is company "Y".
I am planning to go to India first two weeks of February and return on 17th Feb from EWR and returning back to EWR.
I do hav an employment verification letter obtained from my manager at end client "X".
I am planning to do my visa stamping while in Mumbai. I have 4 questions :
1) Looking at the current scenario, where most of H1B stamping at Mumbai consulates are going through administrative process;
do you recommend me to go to Mumbai for new visa stamping ?
2) If I simply return on my current visa, will the officer at POE ask me - why I did not get new H1 stamped on passport when I have 30 days for current to expire ?
Any advice ????????
3) I have confirmed tickets for me, wife and kid to arrive at Newark. Do you guys think it is wise to change the aiport to some other airport ?
4) Do you think dropping the plans going to India is more feasible than dealing through points 1-3 above.
I need your advise as soon as you can. Please share with me your viewpoints in the best possible way.

the question is when we march with them, will we be marching for amnesty or for our issues. If we are marching for our issues, where, when and who will we be making this case to? I don't consider myself better than the undocumented, but I would like to know will I have a voice?
One may choose to sleepwalk with this complex (superiority?) that I am not one of them, but the reality on the ground is different. Our cause is hostage to bitter politics and guess what the only way at this point in time we can possibly achieve our goal by playing the politics right.
BTW in politics right or wrong is rarely a consideration.

Does anyone have recent experience with the Chicago office of Consulate of India for passport renewal. How long does it take? 2 weeks, 3 weeks, more than 3 weeks.
did it last month.

The application was received on 7/10 and the checks were cashed today - How will you receive the resceipt number ? Would it come in the mail?

Spend some time to read thru some posts. You will know there are many people who are with 2002 PD have not been approved yet. If there's a definitely answer for your question, why will they be frustrate.

I dont know what tends to write the answer you replied.. but i am not here to find out why anybody frustrate or what any anybody is doing etc.. Its not my business as well..

when someone working in DC, VA, MD etc says that they will try to make it to the rally because it is on a working day. Come on, give us a break because multiple people are flying from the west coast.
Move your a$$ and get to the rally. You have made enough ruses about not being able to attend the rally.
It makes no sense for you to be the beneficiary of someone else's sweat(in getting legislation passed).
Now show some spine and attend the rally. :)

Has anybody recently applied for a Schengen Visa, if yes, can you please let me know what you did for the travel insurance. The insurance from my employer (Humana) says they cover international but do not have a letter that states the same and Swedish consulate website says the letter should specifically say "International Coverage".
What are my options. Can you guys suggest where I can buy the insurance from.

The fees nearly tripled, and the services we received are worst than ever. Ain't we the customer to USCIS or it is the other way around. So we pay to get abused and we pay more to get abused even more.

the best thing he could do is get married ASAP may be tomorrow and file I 485 for him and his wife together otherwise he will be in very bad situation. If in OCt his PD is current he will get stuck as he can not sponsor wife for a long time. and if there is severe retrogession than he will not be able to bring his wife to US unless hisnon-immigrant visa is still valid( still his wife would be in danger of being out of status)....So act NOW

My H4 spouse left the country for vacation on May 25 (before h4 expiry)
Attorney filed 7th year ext and I 539 on Jun14.
My 6th year of H1 ended on Jun 17.
The attorney was not reachable by HR or myself. HR calls me today about problem with H4 and the attorney wants to discuss. What the heck ? Do they file I-539 when some one is not in the country ? She and I always maintained proper status. What can be the problem? I am freaking out to get my h1 ext approval asap and bring her back to file 485. Now my head is exploding. Any clues ? I cant bear this suspense.
Once your wife is not in this country..she would not be eligible to file 539...
But I do not think your head needs to explode...All you have to do now is to send your extension papers to wife back home and get her H4 stamped...
Without a stamp she cannot come back and by leaving country she abandoned the I539....
It is OK ...you shall live....Your attorney is gonna tell you the same thing tomorrow..
