I would argue that Indian consulting biggies saw that they could offer resources to clients at much cheaper rates than offered by American consulting companies. That drove down billing rates for everyone. Also one cannot deny the fact that persons who faked their resumes have contributed to the decline of the quality of talent pool. Don't get me wrong, bad apples existed and thrived in both big and small companies. But the occurences of such misdeed is/was more rampant in body shops. Some examples are the hiring of fresh grads & H4 & other unskilled workers and passing them off as "high skilled resource".
On the other hand if American consulting companies bill high rates to clients, they are at leat still paying decent wages to their employees. So wages stay at moderate levels. But what This whole tiered employement brought into play was that the actual employee was not getting paid too much but the client would still pay quite a bit, maybe not as much as what an American consulting company would bill. The wages of IT professionals went down.

I have seen the same situation in 2005 when i was buying a home with a credit score of over 700. I was denied by so many lenders, but anyway got a decent loan from Wellsfargo.
(But those days are different, housing market is on high, no worries of credit crisis etc;)

Has anybody really tried to get a mortgage recently? I have been denied by 8 lenders so far simply because I don't have a green card. Most lenders have tightened their underwriting guidelines. They will give mortgages only to U.S.Citizens or somebody who is a permanent resident aka having a green card. There are very very few lenders who will give mortgages to somebody on a visa and the rates may not be very favorable.

My son recently finished his high school and wanted to do Dental degree in India. My current situation is I have applied for adjustment of status in July 2007. Me and my family got the EAD and AP. My priority date is Eb3-November 2005. WIth this mess, I am not sure when I will get my green card.
My question is:
Can I send my son to India for his studies when the adjustment of status is pending. Will it be considered as abondaned if he is out of US when the adjustment of status is in progress?.
Is there any specific forms for this type of situation so that he can go for studies in India and continue the adjustment of status.

They all do a great job of Java programming that you need your prospective employee to do. How do you decide which one to hire?

I am a patriotic Indian. Why the hell cant this Khan guy go through the same ordeal as an ordinary Indian or any other passenger. Why all the fuss? Is he god??? My EB2 PD is Octo'2005 & receipt date of I-485 is Aug'17 2007 (receipt date on the receipt received from USCIS)-filed at NSC(although online it shows first Aug'2007 & now October'2007). NSC online update shows Aug 10'2007. What are the chances that my application will be processed in Aug'2008? I received a soft LUD on 07/03/2008 on my I-485/ead/travel document but nothing after that.

If the Judge things your staying out was unreasonable, PR will be cancelled and you will be asked to leave the country. If you do not leave the country voluntarily you will be deported.
I have heard Canadian Immigration officers are best swayed with reasons that involve a child. So if you had a child either just before or after becoming PR you can give the reason that you didnt wnat to move the child so soon after its birth, you wanted continuation of the Dr etc.

Also if the judge finds it unreasonable that I stayed out of CA for more than 3 years, will I be allowed to at least live in CA for the remaining duration (time remaining out of 5 years), OR I will have to leave CA immediately once the judge does not like my reasons.

I think you have not yet included those doing Consular Processing in your computation. CP accounts for about 20% of total usage.

I have filled I-140 in last week of March 2008. My priority date(the day I file labor) is 15-Sep-2007. My labor got approved.
My I-140 is under EB2 India.
Today I checked status of my I-140 on https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do
It says :
Application Type: I140, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR ALIEN WORKER
Current Status: REQUEST FOR INITIAL EVIDENCE SENT, CASE PLACED ON HOLD
On July 25, 2008, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires.
